Organelle began as a vision, like most creative projects. The goal was to create a text-based fantasy role-playing environment that actively supports the creativity, joy, and imagination of its users. Many people have expressed a longing for a role-playing home where they felt welcome, supported, encouraged and safe to explore the amazing possibilites of imaginary environments, while experiencing and creating adventures amongst themselves in the classic role-playing style(s).
Our goal is to create, encourage, and provide such environments. We are building a virtual world. Our project began with modifying an existing codebase, implementing features and modifications; and we saw that most of the existing servers were too limited in scope for what we really desired to create - a complex, scriptable system with intelligence, a clean text interface, and complex object interactions. We are creating something that will allow automata, in the form of creatures, to initiate realistic interactions such as hunting, mating, nesting, and community building.
We envision a system where users can inhabit any object (Players, Items, Creatures) and interact with the environment through that mask. Using templates we can create plug and play classes, spells and detailed object systems. Though part of our goal is to create a fantasy roleplaying world, our system may function in any of a number of applications due to the versatility of our template approach to database design. We have many visions pf possibilites, but to make sure we keep our feet on the ground, we are constantly at work on our existing server, a modified Mordor server where we can build and test our ideas. This is where we are building, currently, and creating the first playable world that will arise from our project. Nothing is written in stone, however.
To succeed we need innovative engineers who are committed to creating something unique. Come, create a part of the future of online interactive environments with us! Hypercreative? Join us, we need you! email: orchaeus@ organelle.org
